What if postal code borders change after my Neighborhood NFT is minted?

The map artwork for each Neighborhood NFT is custom designed by Mapstone using boundary data from U.S. Census Bureau ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs). ZCTAs are statistical geographic areas created by the Census Bureau to approximate the locations of U.S. Postal Service ZIP Codes for mapping and analysis. They are not official USPS delivery boundaries.

ZCTA boundaries and USPS ZIP Code assignments are separate datasets and may change on different schedules. ZCTAs are generally updated following each decennial U.S. Census, while USPS ZIP Code assignments may change as delivery areas evolve.

Neighborhood royalties are not calculated from the NFT’s map artwork or its boundary polygon. The smart contract matches the country and postal code recorded for an Address NFT when it is minted with the corresponding Neighborhood NFT. If boundaries or postal-code assignments later change, the artwork and on-chain postal-code associations of existing NFTs will not update automatically. Mapstone may use updated source data when classifying future Address NFT claims and mints, while existing royalty allocations continue using the postal-code information recorded for the relevant minted NFTs.
