You need ETH in your connected wallet to mint NFTs, purchase listed NFTs, and pay Ethereum network gas fees on Mapstone.
You can add ETH by transferring it from another wallet or cryptocurrency exchange, or by purchasing ETH through the Mapstone wallet interface using a third-party payment provider.
Option 1: Receive ETH from another wallet or exchange
- Connect your wallet to Mapstone.
- Open the wallet panel by clicking your connected wallet or displayed balance.
- Select Fund wallet.

- Select Receive funds.

- Copy your wallet address or scan the displayed QR code.
- Open the wallet or cryptocurrency exchange from which you are sending ETH.
- Paste the receiving address and select ETH on Ethereum Mainnet as the asset and network.
- Carefully review the wallet address, network, amount, and withdrawal fee before confirming the transfer.
We recommend sending a small test amount first when transferring ETH from a new wallet or exchange.
Option 2: Buy ETH through the Mapstone wallet interface
The Mapstone wallet interface also includes an optional Buy crypto feature. Purchases are facilitated through Meld, which displays quotes from available third-party payment providers based on your location and purchase selections.
- Connect your wallet to Mapstone and open the wallet panel.
- Select Fund wallet.
- Select Buy crypto.

- Select Meld to open the purchase interface.
- Choose your country of residence and the currency you want to use for payment.
- Enter the amount you want to spend.
- Under You receive, select ETH.
- Confirm that ETH will be delivered on the Ethereum network.

Important: Make sure you select ETH itself—not USDC, WETH, or another cryptocurrency. Purchasing another token will not provide the ETH required to pay Ethereum gas fees.
- Verify that the displayed wallet address matches your connected Mapstone wallet.
- Select an available payment method. Depending on your location and the selected provider, options may include a credit or debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or a local bank transfer.

- Select See more quotes to compare available providers.
- Review the amount of ETH you will receive from each provider. Depending on your location and purchase details, you may receive quotes from providers such as Swapped or Stripe.
- Compare the ETH amount, exchange rate, fees, payment method, and provider before selecting a quote.

- Continue to the selected provider and complete any required identity-verification and payment steps.
- Before submitting the purchase, review the following information carefully:
- The amount you are paying
- The amount of ETH you will receive
- The Ethereum network
- Your receiving wallet address
- The selected payment provider and method
- All displayed fees

- After the purchase is processed, confirm that the ETH appears in your connected wallet.
The interface, providers, payment methods, fees, quotes, and available options may vary by location and may change over time.
About Meld and its payment providers
Meld compares purchase options from independent third-party providers. Depending on your selections, available quotes may come from providers such as Swapped or Stripe.
Meld and the providers displayed through its interface are not operated by Mapstone. Mapstone does not determine their availability, identity-verification requirements, supported payment methods, exchange rates, fees, purchase limits, or processing times.
Important network warning
Mapstone operates on Ethereum Mainnet. Do not purchase or send ETH using Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, or another network unless you understand how to bridge it to Ethereum Mainnet. Assets held on another network will not automatically be available for Mapstone transactions.
ETH and WETH are different
ETH is required for minting, direct Marketplace purchases, and Ethereum gas fees. Wrapped Ether (WETH) is primarily used when making Marketplace offers.
Make sure your wallet contains enough ETH to cover both your Mapstone purchase and the estimated Ethereum gas fee.
