Geospatial Data Engineer
Build data pipelines and geospatial systems that help Mapstone connect real-world locations to on-chain products.
About the Role
Mapstone's product depends on reliable location data, clean boundaries, address intelligence, and fast lookup experiences. A Geospatial Data Engineer would help strengthen the infrastructure behind the platform.
This role is suited for someone who enjoys data quality, mapping systems, APIs, and the practical details of making location data useful inside a consumer-facing product.
What You Would Work On
- Design and maintain data pipelines for addresses, postal codes, neighborhoods, parcel-adjacent datasets, and market signals.
- Improve data validation, normalization, deduplication, and enrichment workflows across Mapstone's location datasets.
- Support map, search, filtering, and analytics features that depend on accurate geospatial data.
- Collaborate with product and engineering to define data models, API contracts, and performance requirements.
- Document assumptions, data sources, quality checks, and operational risks clearly for internal use.
Experience
4+ years in data engineering, geospatial systems, or platform engineering
- Experience working with geospatial data, PostGIS, spatial indexes, GIS tooling, or address normalization.
- Strong SQL and data pipeline skills, with careful attention to data quality and reproducibility.
- Ability to work with APIs, JSON, CSV, and third-party data sources in production-like environments.
- Pragmatic engineering judgment and comfort working across backend, data, and product needs.
Helpful Background
- Experience with Mapbox, OpenStreetMap, Zillow-style real estate datasets, blockchain metadata, or marketplace analytics.
- Familiarity with Laravel, Next.js, cloud storage, queues, or scheduled data jobs.
