Director of Finance and Operations

About the Role
Mapstone needs disciplined financial and operational systems as the company grows across product, data, marketplace, and partnership initiatives. The Director of Finance and Operations would help leadership make better decisions with clean reporting, budget discipline, and reliable operating processes.
This role sits between finance, operations, strategy, and company administration. It is suited for someone who can work hands-on while also creating the systems investors, advisors, and leadership expect from a maturing startup.
What You Would Work On
- Build and maintain financial models, budgets, forecasts, cash planning, and operating dashboards for leadership review.
- Support investor updates, fundraising materials, board-style reporting, KPI tracking, and strategic planning cycles.
- Create lightweight operating processes for vendor management, contractor workflows, spend approvals, compliance follow-ups, and internal reporting.
- Partner with leadership on pricing, marketplace economics, tokenized incentive planning, and long-term business model analysis.
- Improve company systems so finance, operations, legal, people, and administrative work stays organized as the team scales.
Experience
8+ years in finance, operations, startup leadership, or strategic planning
- Strong experience in startup finance, FP&A, operations, strategic finance, corporate development, or venture-backed company operations.
- Ability to create clear models, dashboards, and written updates that help founders and investors understand the business.
- Comfort working hands-on in a lean startup environment where systems need to be built from first principles.
- Good judgment around confidentiality, financial controls, prioritization, and operational risk.
Helpful Background
- Experience with Web3, fintech, marketplaces, SaaS, real estate technology, or data infrastructure businesses.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks, Stripe, Mercury, Carta, Pulley, Notion, Google Sheets, legal operations, or investor reporting workflows.
